Kristine Davis Bio:

I’m Kristine Davis, a practicing mental health counselor at Vivify’s sister company, Avenues of Counseling and Mediation. I began my journey to become a NeurOptimal® trainer after attending a Neurofeedback seminar at the prominent National Psychotherapy Symposium in Washington DC. After learning the potential benefits that neurofeedback could have in mental health treatment, I decided to explore more.

After months of research, I discovered NeurOptimal®, a very distinct neurofeedback system. For a variety of reasons, NeurOptimal® stood out compared to other neurofeedback options. The differences that really made this specific form of neurofeedback appealing to me was the safety of the system and the cost-effectiveness. You can find more about those differences here.

After mentoring with a NeurOptimal® trainer and additional courses to become certified, I started working with NeurOptimal®, training myself and my family members.

My Personal Experience with NeurOptimal®?

After training with NeurOptimal®, several things changed for me. I'm more effective at managing the day to day, without feeling overwhelmed. Instead of reacting automatically to a stressful situation, I am able to compose myself and respond appropriately. I don’t grind my teeth anymore. I’ve even been able to reduce my medication (research indicates that brain training can reduce built-up tolerance to medications and help a smaller dosage become effective again).

And for my family? My teenage son started out as a nay-sayer but would begrudgingly humor his therapist mother and allow me to train him with NeurOptimal® before a big test. After several sessions, the testing nerves he dealt with started subsiding, with no other influence. He went from eye-rolling to asking me to hook him up. As parents, we also noticed that after his brain training sessions, he became better able to manage his time, was able to transition and balance tasks better, and was feeling more confident.

Issues Addressed With Neurofeedback

My NeurOptimal® clients have sought out neurofeedback for a variety of reasons, but often they are looking for assistance with anxiety and mood regulation, irritability, sleep issues, to improve their ability to cope with life-stressors, or to make more progress on their goals in mental health therapy. Like medication, neurofeedback can help quiet the brain a bit so the person can focus more on the tasks at hand.

Client Improvements with NeurOptimal®

Sleep seems to be one of the first things that neurofeedback affects. One client reported ‘8 nights of blissful sleep’ after one session. The results vary from client to client, because unlike traditional Neurofeedback, the brain is in charge with Neuroptimal®. Generally speaking however, NeurOptimal® helps the brain become more flexible and resilient, and we in turn ‘get out of our own way’.

Why Should You Consider NeurOptimal?

NeurOptimal® Brain Training provides information to your brain that it cannot perceive or receive in any other way. While it’s not a one-and-done, and it’s not a magic bullet, it is safe, cost-effective and FDA approved. Our brains can get dysregulated over time, and this neurofeedback system is a tool to help optimize brain function. With NeurOptimal®, you can gain a variety of benefits, in your thoughts, behaviors, emotions and mood.
