What are the Benefits of Salt Therapy?

There are three natural properties that salt has that are very beneficial.

  1. Salt is super absorbent (especially when it is completely dry)

  2. Salt is antibacterial

  3. Salt is anti-inflammatory

Dry Salt Therapy (Or Halotherapy) is very beneficial for overall wellness because it helps remove toxicity from the respiratory system and boosts the immune system. It also helps improve the function and appearance of the skin.

It is natural and safe and there are no harmful side effects.

Respiratory Benefits of Salt Therapy

Salt has already been utilized in various healing, therapeutic, and medicinal ways for hundreds of years, most recently in saline solutions, nebulizers, skin scrubs, salt baths, Nettie pots, etc. These methods are traditionally known as ‘wet’ salt therapy.

In dry salt therapy, a Halogenerator grinds up Pure-Grade Sodium Chloride (the same salt that hospitals use for saline solutions) and disperses these aerosol micro-particles of salt into an enclosed room. These particles are then inhaled and land on skin.  The dry salt naturally starts absorbing allergens, toxins and foreign substances in your lungs and throughout your respiratory system. The micro-sized crystal structure of pure NaCl particles breaks loose and helps your body clear out all of the ‘bad stuff’. This is the basis for how dry salt therapy can impact people suffering from respiratory conditions like:

  • allergies

  • asthma

  • bronchitis

  • cystic fibrosis

  • COPD and others.

Research has found that inhaled dry salt has properties which may help to reduce inflammation in the entire respiratory tract and widen the airway passages. A clean respiratory system naturally results in higher oxygen intake, increased energy and an improved immune system.

Salt Therapy for Skin

Salt Therapy sessions allow the dry salt to absorb impurities and provide anti-bacterial properties that benefit the skin such as:

  • acne

  • psoriasis

  • eczema

It also regulates the skin's micro-circulation. The smaller particles can reach beneath the skin’s surface and absorb moisture towards the skin. The larger salt particles land on the skin and absorb any bacterial and foreign substances. The dry salt helps balance cell pH, and stimulates cell growth and rejuvenation.

Why is the Demand for Salt Growing?

There are many reasons why the demand is growing. We are exposed to more airborne toxins now than ever before. More people are suffering from respiratory and skin issues and spend hundreds of dollars on medications and creams to treat them. Athletes are discovering that Salt Therapy improves their oxygen level and energy, thus enhancing their performance. Experiencing a Dry Salt Therapy session is also a calming and relaxing experience, which helps reduces stress, fatigue, and provides overall wellness. For decades Dry Salt Therapy has been clinically and scientifically researched and proven to be a safe alternative that produces sustainable results.

FAQs

What to Wear

When you come in for a Salt Therapy session at Vivify, we recommend dressing comfortably. Some people may have problem skin areas that they want to expose to the salt. This is encouraged however unless you have booked the whole room (this is an option), you may be experiencing the Salt Therapy session with other guests. Also the temperature in the salt room runs a bit cool so the salt disperses in the room appropriately. We always have blankets available if you think you will need one. You may notice salt particles on your clothing after your Salt Therapy session. This will cause no damage, and should easily brush off.

Privacy

The Vivify Wellness at Avenues’ Salt Therapy room is set up for multiple people to attend at once. Each individual space is separated by a partition and is semi-private. If you attend a Salt Therapy session with a friend, we request that you keep chatting to a minimum if other guests are present so as to not interrupt their experience. You do have the option to Rent the Room at scheduling. This will give you a completely private Salt Therapy experience, or is an option if you want to bring several guests with you for a session (max 6).

What to Expect in a Salt Therapy Session

A few minutes into your Salt Therapy session you may experience a runny nose, a slight cough, or a minor tightness in the chest. This is simply the salt doing its work to remove mucus and toxins from the lungs and airways. Tissues and water are always available.

Not just for adults! When you bring in your child 10 years or younger, you get a session for free on select days!
